Metal Bat Ball, Chicks Dig the Long Ball, Video

Well, people might hate me, but I am a little bit of a baseball purist. I do not think they should be using metal bats on any level of baseball. The recent Wade Korpis instance is a perfect example of why we do not need to use metal bats. As a purist, I do not see college baseball as real baseball. I see it as “Metal Bat Ball”. When you play with a larger ball, you call it softball. Why would you not change the name of the game when you play with a metal bat?
Some people say that it is more exciting to hear the ping of the metal bat, and to see the ball go further and faster. I say that is all well in good, but do not be offended when I discredit your records. Do not be offended when I call it “Metal Bat Ball”.
On my list of sports, I put college baseball under curling. I say this for the fact that it is not baseball. If they were playing with a wooden bat, it would be a completely different story.
I do not discredit the passion that it is played with. I do not discredit the sacrifices made to play the sport by student athletes. I do not discredit the Tens of Thousands of people that make a living due to “Metal Bat Ball”, and the selling of the sporting goods, or concessions/tickets to the games. Please do not miss my point. I am not attacking anyone.
It is dangerous to play with a metal bat. We are also teaching our children that cheating is OK. You might say that it is not cheating because it is in the rulebook that they can use a metal bat. To that, I say that it is not baseball if it is in the rulebook that you can use a metal bat.
Barry Bonds was not using a metal bat, but he was cheating. He put homeruns over playing the pure game of baseball. It is hard to hit a Homerun. That is why people get excited when someone does it. I know chicks dig the long ball, but using a metal bat is not baseball. It is cheating. Well, unless you are playing “Metal Bat Ball”.
Please do not take any of this personally. As I said, I am a baseball purist and we are a peculiar bunch, when it comes to the game we love.

You are right, all baseball should be played with a Wooden Bat.

I don't hate you or anyone else, but your "purist" arguments don't hold much water (or beer). I would venture a guess that the game you are discussing has been around a bit longer than you have, and you are not considering the many changes that have taken place in the game. Even the number of bases has varied over the centuries of its evolution. How "pure" do you prefer to be?
