Barkley, Malone, and Dr. J Beat Up Larry Bird, Video. Charles Barkley and Moses Malone put Larry Bird in a headlock while Julius Erving lays 3 haymakers in Birds Grill. You do not see that every day.

A little background. This is from Nov. 9 1984. It is early in the basketball season. Both teams are undefeated at 5-0 and 4-0. The Garden was packed for the 176th straight time. Bird scored 42 before his ejection and the Celtics went on to win 130-119.

For weeks after this game people would use the phrase,” I went to a basketball game and hockey game broke out”. Many players were fined. The Announcers can not get over Dr. J’s bush league behavior.     Yes, they saved the tapes!

    I remember watching this game, there were quite a few big fights involving the 1980s Celtics. My favorite was when Danny Ainge bit Tree Rollins.

    ML Carr's shorts are tight.

    Yep. This one is a classic. I also love the Hip Toss that Dr. J gives Bird.
