Romeo Crennel Tribute, on Black Monday, Video

Romeo Crennel sums it up in the provided video clip. He was honest if nothing else as the former leader of the Cleveland Browns. The Browns had a dismal year and unfortunately the way Crennel handled his matters, as a stand up guy, he shouldered the blame for the team failing on his four year promise. I, for one, know Crennel may be the next Marty Schottenheimer or Bill Bellichek, released by the Browns to seek success somewhere else.

Crennel didn’t drop 18 passes this year, Braylon Edwards did. Crennel didn’t get some undisclosed illness that took all the momentum away following a big win over the undefeated Giants, Kellen Winslow did. Crennel didn’t point at any of his guys, ever, and I do respect him for that. He will be back soon. Phil Savage, on the other hand, should apply for the greeter job at his local Wal-Mart. He failed to pull the trigger on some deals he should have and his drafting pattern was pretty sad.

Eric Mangini was given three years by the Jets. In his 3 seasons the Jets were 23-25. I think Mangini will pop back up somewhere also. He is taking the hit because Brett Favre’s 39 year-old shoulder hurts. Before Favre’s pains the Jets were 8-3 and Mangini was tapped this years feel good NFL story. Rough finish including his dismissal today.

Rod Marinelli and his son-in-law defensive coordinator Joe Berry were justifiably dismissed. The only argument for keeping them would have been allowing progress in a Matt Millen-less world for a couple of years. Safe to say Marinelli will not be found with a whistle lanyard around his neck for a few years. Losing 23 of his last 24 games coached will not aid the job hunt.

Curious to see if Mangini lands the Cleveland job and if so will Coach Clump will stick around as a D-C? Like to hear your take on thr Denver situation. Where do you think Shannon lands? Do you think Garret will bail on Dallas and try to get the Detroit gig? Where do you see the big tuna landing? And my last question, out of all of the teams who have fired their head coach who has the best chance to rebound next year with an appearence in the playoffs?
