Ohio State vs Texas, Prediction, 2009 Fiesta Bowl

Ohio State vs Texas, Prediction, 2009 Fiesta Bowl. Jim Tressel has to be excited that his Buckeyes face Texas instead of USC, Florida, or even LSU again. Why? Because the Texas game in the 2007 regular season was the last time Tressel coached the Buckeyes to a win over a big time opponent. If nothing else, a small bit of confidence and slight mental edge could take Ohio State far January 5th.

My friend Sam and my cousin Tommy are big Buckeye fans as I am. We agree that something is amiss in Columbus lately. There really is no imagination on offense and watching James Laurinaitis make tackles three yards behind the line of scrimmage on defense have had the entire Buckeye Nation wondering what is going on. Somehow, they go 10-2, getting clobbered by USC, losing to Penn State, and basically walking through an indigent Big 10 and laughable non-conference schedule.

If Ohio State is to win the game they need to pressure Colt McCoy instead of having eight guys standing 7-10 yards off ball back peddling before the snap. BLITZ! The second key to an Ohio State victory is a healthy Beanie Wells. Beanie is going to let his performance in this game decide if he will turn pro or stay. A stingy part of me hopes he has a bad game and stays, but the loyalist fan part of me really wants Beanie to have a 200 yard night.

I think Tressel has heard the grunting and will do uncharacteristic things to win this game. You will see trick plays on offense, I predict at least two per half. Expect a fake punt or field goal. Know you are going to see constant pressure on McCoy the whole game. Sorry, gotta go with my heart and say Ohio State wins a nail biter against Texas this time. That is just what I think. I think Texas is a much more talented team and more expirienced quarterback in Colt McCoy. Ohio State is clearly a better COACHED team. They have more discipline. Texas should win the Fiesta bowl. The keys for Texas is not making late mistakes. Ohio States keys are to execute on any Texas mistakes because Colt McCoy will NOT make many. Watch for Brian Orakpo to make a late sack on Terrell Pryor. He is an amazing athelete but I have to go with expirience and Colt McCoy. You are exactly right about Terrell Pryor bein the next Vince Young though. He will lead his team to great things. Just not this year.——-Hunter

i understand what your saying and im a die hard buck too. but to be honest i dont een think this is going to be close. We match up so well against texas. their only offensive threat is mccoy and if we have laurenitis spy him on the run or even freeman we should contain the big yardage scrambles. I agree with you on the fact that we need to blitz. mccoys number target is shipley and if our defensive coordinatior grows some balls and plays on shipley with jenkins we should contain the passing yardage too. what also helps us is that texas deosnt have a legitament running attack. Beanie with be 100 percent for the first time sonce youngstown. terrelle has had all this time to improve and i beleive will have offensive looks and plays no one has seen yet witch should help us. plus it is a big 12 defense

    go bucks

Bucks haven't played anyone except USC who could of beat them by 50. The boring, midwest, corn fed offense doesn't work anymore. (I am from the midwest). Texas will score big after a slow first quarter. 3-0 end of 1stq, but this will end 44-13 Texas. BTW, I am a Bucks fan NOT a Texas fan, but the Big 10 has to adapt to the speed and NFL style offense and defense that the SEC, Big 12 and PAC 10 are already perfecting. PS Oklahoma beats Florida in a very close, possibly overtime win.

I love my Bucs but it will be a moral victory if we lose by single digits with a Freshman QB. Do you Texans remember what happened to Colt McCoy when we played you in Texas 2 years ago? (In case you forgot, Colt played poorly and the Buckeyes won 24-7.) There’s only so much you can expect from a Freshman.

    Gentlemen,

Tonights game will be very enlightening for the state of tex-as#. As it is true CM is a different, more experience QB from the last time we saw him, he cant get away from being the “man”. We will make him one dimensional as a passer… and when we sack, knockdown and rush this guy, we will mess with his timing and create defensive opportunities (FM, INT). This will be the difference. Dont get me wrong, a great game it will be and close…Go Bucks!
