Barkley, Magic, Dr J, D Wade, Old School, My Faves Commercial

Posted on | January 12, 2009 | 119 Comments

Barkley, Magic, Dr J, D Wade, Old School, My Faves Commercial. I think this might be my favorite “My Faves” T-Mobile commercials. Dr J, Magic Johnson, and Charles Barkley are featured in a new video game called “Old School“. You get to play the old school players when they’re old. :-)

Dr J looks like he could still get out there and play, but the skin tight leotard is not too flattering for Chucky and Magic. Speaking of the Chuckster, with all of his recent problems, do you think this is the last T-Mobile commercial he will ever do? It is possible.

Phil Jackson is in his young 60s, stately looking, tall and ON TV ALL THE TIME DURING THE PLAYOFFS. How in the everloving world could you think that guy is Phil Jackson? Geez, folks, read the comments above, watch a Lakers game and see the guy on the sidelines stalking back and forth and stop making stupid comments like "It's Phil Jackson." It's more likely it's your grandpa or even your mom than Phil Jackson so, seriously, stop.

    May 7th, 2009 @ 7:00 am

Dolph Schayes or Bob Cousy for sure…..

I saw that someone said Havlicek, but I don't think he's using a walker yet… only 69 yrs old.

I tried searching to find out for sure, but i can't find any info.

  56. GINGER
    May 7th, 2009 @ 7:26 am

    DA900S…..

It definetly CAN be Bob Cousy, he's 77 & who cares how tall he was when he was playing….. He's 77 & using a walker, of course he's lost a few inches – you can see in the commercial the old man is hunched over.

To all those saying Phil Jackson, are you just blind? Phil Jackson isn't even close and it can't be Jerry West or David Stern. I don't think it's John Wooden either.

I'm really enjoying all the speculation regarding the guy cruising by on the walker. Bob Cousy and Dave Cowan are good stabs in the dark, but . . . if you listen to the voice, I think you'll pick up a tinge of Boston street brogue. Of course he's acting, but my Sam Adams six says it's Tommy Heinsohn. Game over! :-)

I’m a Laker fan, I see Phil Jackson all the time. I’m miffed at those above who say you’re stupid if you think it’s Phil Jackson. It looks like his head, doesn’t look like most of the other people mentioned above like John Wooden or Frank Layden. The only reason I don’t think it’s Phil Jackson is because of the height. But you people saying that it can’t be him because of the walker and because he’s hunched over, like has been said, it’s a commercial, it’s acting. They might have found a way to make him look shorter.

I actually know who it is..He is a friend of mine that lives in Hallandale FL. His name is Stan and he is 79. This commercial was shot a few months ago, but T-Mobile did not release it due to Barkley's arrest in Miami (during the shooting)for DUI..Stan and his wife have been in over 100 productions over the years and are fun and funny people. He also will be appearing in the new movie Bachelor Party II which was shot in Hollywood FL. It was too funny to read all the speculation of who it was, but this is the real info!!

  69. Mitch Jackson

That is DEFINITELY my dad, Phil Jackson. He took off some time in the middle of the season in order to shoot the commercial and they used lots of makeup in order to help him look older. He borrowed the walker from some old lady outside. I am absolutely 100% positive that it is Phil Jackson.

If it's not my dad, maybe it's Manute Bol.

The man with the walker DEFINITELY IS Phil Jackson. It's his hair, his glasses, his nose, his ears, and certainly is his voice (with an exaggerated old man's cranky voice well acted.) The walker prop is a take-off on his bad hips. Homage to Phil for contributing his obvious acting talent to deliver the punchline in this terrific ad.

Not sure if its Jason Stanford White or not. He was the only "stan" listed in the credits. IMDB doesn't have a picture on him. Also, yes there are 2 Bachelor Party 2 movies and both were in 2008.
