Melky Cabrera Hits For The Cycle, Yankees, Video

Melky Cabrera Hits For The Cycle, Yankees, Video. Melky is the first Yankee in 14 years to hit for the cycle. This means something. First it shows that hitting for the cycle is neat, but it does not equal stardome and championships. Over the past 14 years the Yankees have been one of the best franchises in the world. They won multiple pennants and championships, and now Melky pops up and hits for the cycle. Melky was the future of the Yankees a few years ago, now he is just a nice player.

Don’t get me wrong, hitting for the cycle is cool, but the fact that he is the first Yankee to do it in 14 years, says to me that the cycle is not all it’s cracked up to be. It’s like an unassisted triple play. An unassisted triple play will get you noticed. People will remember that one play and that night, but they will not give you a gold glove because of one play. ( This is not me hating on the Yankees, this is me hating on the importance of the cycle. )
