By far the best email link I received last week was to Wired Science’s story “7-Foot NBA Center Wins eBay Auction to Name Shrimp Species.” The center in question is retired 3-time NBA Champion Luc Longley, the pride of Australia.  He paid $2,900 to name a newly discovered shrimp series after himself.  (Which is ironic because he’s really tall, and shrimps are really tiny.)
