EVERY TUESDAY David Chalk, renowned, acclaimed and beloved baseball writer from 7th Inning Stache, Bugs&Cranks and occasionally Big League Stew throws up Eight Random Videos to entertain and/or enlighten right here on NESW SPORTS.
By far the best email link I received last week was to Wired Science’s story “7-Foot NBA Center Wins eBay Auction to Name Shrimp Species.” The center in question is retired 3-time NBA Champion Luc Longley, the pride of Australia. He paid $2,900 to name a newly discovered shrimp series after himself. (Which is ironic because he’s really tall, and shrimps are really tiny.)

When I read this, I thought, "wait a second, this sounds familiar!" — it seems that Wired pulled this one out from some time ago. Longley actually won the auction back in April!
