Colts vs Saints Super Bowl XLIV, Pick Prediction. At week 13 everyone was picking these 2 teams to play in the Super Bowl. They were both undefeated. The Colts were winning games, but not looking that impressive. The Saints were dismantling defenses with their precision offense.
Then the end of the season came. The Colts wanted to bench players. The Saints could not buy a win, and they were trying. Both teams were a combined 1-5 to end the season. Very few professional prognosticators picked these 2 to get their swagger back and meet back at the Super Bowl.

The Saints will be the sentimental favorites. They have never won a Super Bowl, and Katrina is still fresh in everyone’s mind. Drew Brees will be appreciated a lot more by the national media during the next 2 weeks. Reggie Bush will most likely get a lot of unwarranted pub. ( He has not done much in the NFL since this hit. )
Peyton Manning is doing this without 2 of last years leading receivers, and they were not replaced by Pro Bowlers. Who knew about Garcon or Collie coming into the season? The Colts would have went undefeated if they wanted to, but their only goal was a Super Bowl. At least it seams that the whole team bought into it. They ended the season with losses to the Jets, who they just beat, and they laid down to the 6-10 Bills.
An Aside: I LOVE that the fact that Colts head coach Jim Caldwell happens to be black is hardly mentioned, if at all. A few years ago it was the biggest side-story of the super Bowl, now it is not even a foot note. That is progress.
I pick the Colts to win. Peyton is doing this all with a rookie coach, and new wide receivers. The defense is clicking. The Saints barely won the game vs the Vikings and the Vikes were seriously trying to lose the game. They had 5 turn overs with 2 lost fumbles inside the 10, and a last minute INT that would have put them in field goal range in a tie game.
The Saints do not have enough for the Colts well oiled machine.
Colts 33- Saints 20.
