Ever wonder what John Madden’s doing now that he’s retired from broadcasting? Mostly bocce.
“So, the strategy is, I’m gonna roll my ball and try to hit his ball, and if I do — BOOM! — my ball hits his ball and my ball’s where his ball was and now I’ve got the momentum. But then he’s gonna try to BOOM! get the momentum back from me — and if he does, I gotta try to get the momentum back then from him.”
No, seriously, Madden and former 49ers and Lions coach Steve Mariucci just held their 12th annual charity bocce tournament. Representatives from all the major Bay Area sports teams were there. Dude, George Seifert was there.
